Cerulean
Project type
Graphite/charcoal self-portrait on paper stitched together on mixed media canvas.
Date
March 2024
Location
San Juan, PR.
With a sunken, blank expression and eyes drifting into thought, I depict the emotional emptiness and detachment that accompany mourning. The blue tones and checkboard background symbolize the ebb and flow of time, highlighting the cyclic nature of grief. Each stitch on the canvas represents a moment in time, stitched together to form the fabric of my grief-stricken experience. Through this portrayal, I aim to convey the profound impact of time on the journey through grief, marked by moments of emptiness and introspection.
